Survival News Update: Extreme Survivalism
Extreme Survivalism
I'm not on board with the approach taken by this type of prepper. They are welcome to do what they are doing but to ignore and not take advantage of the benefits of modernity makes no sense to me. Rather, I'd suggest you live in the modern world, take advantage of civilization, live a normal life, and then have a back-up plan if some of the major risks come to pass.
What are those risks? No particular order. Each has a potential horrific outcome. Some are in progress.
1. War - Nuclear, Terror attacks, Conventional
2. Natural Disaster - Wind, Water, Fire, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, (climate change not on this list)
3. Police State - This is an ongoing project that we appear to have headed our way.
4. Pandemic - This one is a roll of the dice, or maybe an act of nature, but the outcome is harsh.
5. Economic Collapse - This is a man made disaster that has many examples. Coming soon!
6. Alien Invasion - Ongoing if you think illegal, roll of the dice if you think extra terrestrial.
In order of level of calamity and how much it will change your life a case can be made that any of these events can shatter our way of life.

Grid Collapse Update: LA facing blackouts, Lights Out

Meanwhile our leaders are focused on climate change. Wait until the climate in a non-air conditioned house gets nice and toasty and maybe you'll heard some squealing from those fruitcakes in California. It needs to hit them personally and probably even then they won't understand priorities. Instead they'll move to a more sensible state and soil it with their far left loony ideas and get the same result.
Recommended response to this info: Find a way to become energy self sufficient or at least less dependent.
Lights Out
So Ted Koppel did the job of a journalist recently giving an example of real reporting as a lesson for the current crop of propaganda sellers posing as journalists. His book titled Lights Out is a good primer on how much at risk we are for cyber attacks on the grid. Whether you choose to read this book or not, I'd suggest you follow the concept to a natural conclusion. The government is not going to do the job necessary to protect the citizens while it is busy cutting our ability generate power for purposes of limiting "Climate Change." Without wasting any further time on the fantasy of climate change and our ability to manage it, I'd suggest you take on the personal responsibility to protect yourself.
Suggestion: Buy some solar panels and set up just a basic system to cover lights and maybe refrigeration. For heat I'd find a way to get a back-up system in place such as propane and wood, or wood pellets. One nice thing about propane is that it stores for years, so essentially indefinitely. Kerosene is problematic simply because it ages and requires very close monitoring for safety. I still have kerosene lamps and one heater but consider them last ditch fall back methods. I did some testing this winter with oil lamps and found that one lamp seems to put out about the same amount of heat as a light bulb, maybe 60 watts for a large oil lamp and 25 watts for small one. This worked to help me keep a closed off section of the house above freezing while burning through some old lamp oil and testing the concept. It works but of course is a flame and requires ventilation for safety.

We used to joke about this going all the way back to when I was a child and over the years we were told that it was insensitive of us to portray other cultures in such a bad light. Well, despite minimal reporting on the issue just one story like this with some facts can put light on the inhumanity of some cultures in how they treat man's best friend, dogs, and to many people cats. I like them both as well and not for consumption but for friendship and companionship. These poor souls are another of God's gifts not meant for the dinner table, but to share life and for us to be a steward in their protection.
While here in America we still have the killing of human unborn to contend with at least somehow it is in out cultural imperative not to make meals out of animals intelligent enough to show devotion and in many cases such as dogs to become trained assistants for the disabled or elderly. Companionship is so underrated yet many people who have little else in the way of social interaction due to circumstances have found pets like cats or dogs to be as important to life as family, and for many they are family.

Essential Oil protection versus Deet
There is an essential oil that may work better than deet without the risk chemicals offer. I still use deet to spray clothing and hats and try to keep it off my skin. Bug tamer outfits are helpful if you are in a high activity area for mosquito.

Another great method is to get a drum fan or cyclone fan with high speed air movement. If you are going to work in a fixed spot such as doing a car repair then pointing a fan at you can create a wind tunnel that makes it hard for the little devils to navigate their way to you and then land. When I practice with pellet rifles on summer afternoons in the shade this is my go-to method for avoiding the misery of mosquito bites. Combined with a bug tamer outfit and a floppy hat sprayed with deet on the brim I often come out without one nip from a mosquito despite living in an area that in heavily infested with them.

Germans Going for Guns

So the Germans at least in some small numbers are figuring out the obvious that if their country is no longer safe due to importation of violent criminals it is time for action. From there they figure out that strapping on is the only one personal response available other than exiting the country. Especially since there is little to no chance that the insanity of cultural destruction brought on the the elites will be stopped anytime soon, and it is probably too late anyway. So good luck to the Germans, but the truth is that the number of people trying to get armed up is still woefully weak and pathetic compared to say the population of just one American State.
Learn from them though. While you have the time and the opportunity get trained and get armed. Even if it is just a simple revolver good for close range defense you will be better off than a whistle or a pepper spray bauble. Get some practice time in and buy some armed defense DVDs for additional training.
Whatever you do, make sure that as time goes by that it becomes second nature for you to carry so that when the day comes when it is mandatory for survival you're not doing on the job training, but instead are ready for action.
