Food for Pandemics

It's all about protein.   You can get your fats in bottles and cans.  Carbs last very long if there is no fat attached to them.   Protein sources of many kinds are what you need to avoid malnutrition and starvation.

Pandemic Update: USA tops reported list of Deaths, China Information Not Forthcoming

Virus Came from Wuhan Lab - suspected patient Zero out of lab

It's bad enough that the Chicoms let it loose on the world but their deceit and treachery has left much of the world reeling in fear.  Any numbers regarding deaths and actual cases of the virus in China are worthless.

A working argument is that they may not have planned to send it out in the wild to crush the world economy but once they saw the chance to bring down some adversaries like the USA it was easier just to stay silent.

It is time for a total divorce from China and their products.  The price they pay for this hellish nightmare should be a broken economy for the next two decades.  Sadly, there are many in the West that still think communism done right has potential.

Home defense Gun Tests - Guns for the Pandemic - Shotguns for Self Defense

This is Paul Harrell.  He is a master and is one of the best communicators when it comes to gun videos.

For the non-firearms owner that decides they need a gun for the Pandemic.  it's for newbies but it is still very useful information.

Here are his Top 5 Guns for Home Defense

I like his analysis of the safety feature of the old style Winchester vs the modern shotguns.

Paul Harrell again.
His point is to use something less than 00 Buck.  I use #4 buck in my 12 and 20 if available.  He suggests #3 for a 20 Gauge since it's more readily available.  The #4 Buck is approximately .22 caliber balls that won't over-penetrate.  The #3  buck is .25 caliber with 20 of them in a 20 gauge shell.  It also didn't over-penetrate.

This is an add-on video I found that I won't endorse if you don't like strong language with lots of cussing.  His wall penetration efforts and explanations are helpful though and this is what we are here to see.

Video - strong language if you are sensitive to this or have kids in the room you may want to skip it.

Interesting test.  I always like to see wall penetration.   I already knew that the sound volume from an AR is way too high for interior firing and the same with magnum rounds unless you have ear protection.

The shotgun is great for stopping but if you're using buckshot it still has a penetration problem passing through all wall materials and hitting innocents.  He doesn't discuss changing the type of round to use that will change the amount of penetration.  A Shotgun can be easily adjusted for the task by changing the type of round.  Shotgun masters know this.
It looks as if the 9mm JHP is the answer for most users which most of us already knew but he showed it going through a test dummy and then multiple wall materials but not the excessive penetration that came with the other ones.

Still, it all comes down to the choice of ammunition to determine penetration, expansion, and over-penetration.

Pandemic Update: Covid-19 - Corona Virus - anti-Trump Propaganda

Here is an example of attempting to portray the current Administration as somehow less competent than the previous one.

Politico

MSN - agitation propaganda

The same groups that complained about the travel bans now say the Admin didn't work fast enough.

Corona Virus, COVID-19, or Wuhan Flu?

Naming an infectious Disease
Left Wing Propaganda suggests that using locations that a disease originated is wrong.  Reporters and leftists have even called it racist.

Lyme Connecticut for Lyme Disease, West Nile Virus, and Spanish Flu.  I guess that's no problem but now using the name of a place in China is somehow unfair.

Shall we call it Bat Flu like we did for Swine Flu, or Bird Flu.

This is no time to get picky about names or methods of choosing names but the left cannot help itself.

Corona Emergency: Day 3

Friday the 13th National Emergency Declared - You wish that they had picked a luckier date.  Friday the 13th, Really!

That said, the media spin is all political.  They want Joe for President.

CNN - spin against President is the primary concern of the article

WAPO - focus on coronavirus exposure of President rather than a national emergency.

Pandemic Update: CoronaVirus

Testing not readily available in the USA

CoronaVirus Worse Threat to Half of Americans

Contagious up to 37 days

Store Shelves Clearing NYC

Medical Professionals begging for tests in Miami

Predicted deaths in USA 200k to 1.7Mil

This could be an insane panic or the disease might have legs and turn out to be as bad as feared.  We won't know for sure for months or even a year.  Meanwhile, your job is to make sure that you protect yourself if your age and health suggest you are at high risk.  Set aside food and be ready for a stay away from others in self-isolation or family quarantine. Those with work will have the biggest challenge.

Best of luck.  Stay safe but don't panic and instead act deliberately to protect yourself.

Who Disarmed the Military on Bases

1992 - who was in charge at the time?  Hint: Name starts with a C

But you can be he's never gone unprotected since his election to the presidency.

It's the way they see the world.

Civil War USA: Is it coming over Virginia?

Prediction

Whether it is coming from this or not it is a concern that the minute a state goes from Red to Blue it will strip residents of their previous rights.

Bugout: Live light travel light

Live light and what about all that stuff

Take your time and get rid of lots of stuff.  Over time you'll be happy that you did just for the sake of not having to deal with so much.  Past that, if you ever have to bug out at least you won't have to ponder endless piles of things that you've accumulated.

If you live light with fewer items it will be easier to either bug out of slow fade your way out of your location.

Hobbit Living: a survival skill

This is probably one of the most cost efficient ways to live.  It's also one of the most low profile.

16 Outdoor survival skills

Outdoor Survival Skills

Starting a fire is the first one.  If you have that you likely won't freeze no matter where you are stuck.

Water.  You need water and knowing how to purify it is essential.

Shelter.  Protect yourself from the elements.

Food.  You can go for a while without it but it helps to know how to forage, hunt, fish, and if you're smart, have a simple plan for having food with you always.

Ryobi 18V +HP Batteries

I picked up a Holiday sale deal at Home Depot yesterday that gave me two 3ah+HP batteries, a fast charger, and a bag for $129, plus you get one free tool or set of batteries from the display.  It looked like a really good deal to me and I wanted some higher capacity batteries.

I really didn't get what the HP thing meant until I checked it out online.

I don't know if you've gone to the Dark Side with the Ryobi Empire of tools but this is interesting.   I'm fully in on it since I've been in their 18V +One series for probably longer than a decade or whenever it started.

I bought them for tools first but now it's part of my post grid down planning for emergency lighting and tools.  I'll let you know how this new tech goes.  I'm not even sure if my older tools have the tabs required for taking advantage of the HP designation.  We'll see.  I thought that I'd pass thing along.
