A story about a guy who simply can't own them and later when he could decided he didn't need one.

Go with what makes you happy.  I think having a wife that won't allow weapons in the same home is not worth having unless she is ultra rich and is willing to pay for security both armed and otherwise.

Remember, when the moment of truth arrives and the bump in the night needs to be investigated you need to make sure wifey goes and finds out what the noise is since she feels no guns are needed in the home.  Or if you feel you must then just bring along your little pepper spray and a flashlight.
