I follow a rule nowadays.  When I get a scratch, scrape, or cut I immediately treat it by cleaning it, treating it with antibiotic and cover it with a bandage.  Yes, this might be overkill from the old way of thinking but we are in a new time.  I'd rather not lose a limb or my life by ignoring such a simple thing as an abrasion.
