This is the result of brainwashing from Pre-school through college.  Most are ignorant beyond their years as it takes a special kind of effort to know so much that is so useless.  What they do profess to know is that the only way to fix things is to erase our history and destroy our institutions.  Denigrating historical figures is just another symptom of their mental illness.

This only varies by degrees from the Islamic State destroying antiquities.  Give it a decade or so and you might see them wanting to erase all memories of the founding fathers including the monuments and their homes.  Nothing is surprising with these lunatics.
