He owned this dog for whatever reason, but it is clear that certain breeds are more volatile and dangerous than others.  If you are preparing for survival it might make sense to consider whom or what is living in your home.  Any of the breeds like this have the potential to do what they do best and that is to subdue and by doing so kill any human by the swift bite on a neck. 


Thoughts:  Stick with gentle breeds with good hearing that alert you to threats.  Leave the self defense aspect of intruder invasions to yourself by having firearms.  Of course in London where this happened you probably can go to jail for picking up a kitchen knife when facing a home invasion.  I'm sure the owner never thought this could happen to him.
