It seems that they now recognize there is risk out there in the world, though of course they want to blame it on the current president rather than ever admit their previous president left most of this for the new one to deal with. 

Nuke War Risk NOW - High, very high. 

Threat: the NORKS  North Koreans are the most likely flashpoint but it could easily end up dragging in other players including the CHICOMS.   As for the Russians, they do have a long history with us of general restraint when it comes to the reality of a NUKEWAR.    But accidents happen and so do misunderstandings. 

What to do:  Create some plan and if it includes building a shelter then the above link is a good starting point.  Learn what you can and do what you can.  You can't protect against everything.
