Just because you don't believe in hate crimes doesn't mean they don't believe in you.  Situational awareness and just plain acting plain might save you.  Don't wear a red hat or shirt unless you want to get tagged for being a Tr_mp voter.  This guy took a beating on the assumption he was based on his uniform that happened to be white.  Consider reality rather than the way you want things to be.
