Finally they have come around to explain that deer ticks and other ticks prefer mice so why not call them mice ticks.  If you want to cut the tick population around your home you should work to reduce the mouse population.  In addition, try spraying Permethrin on cotton that you place in areas where mice will likely use it to build nests.  It works wonders to kill ticks on mice.
