Dog in Germany Kills Mother and Son

These stories are always horrific in the sense that an often trusted member of the family in the form of a dog goes off and starts killing.  Humans can do this to but at least they have the sense to know that there will be a penalty.  Dogs often go strictly on instinct and their natural inclinations based on heredity.  I wouldn't own a dog that could kill me.  That is my personal opinion and instead would rather have a dog that could act as an alarm, an alert, and a sentinel that could let me know that a threat is near.  With that warning I'd then take the appropriate measures.
