This confirms what anyone with sense already knows.  Imagine a cat and most of you with cats know that most of them, especially outdoor cats are in a constant state of war.  They are rarely surprised with attacks and don't waste time when a threat arises.  A human that has a heightened awareness brought about by stress with often react more rapidly than a very relaxed individual.

We all know layering right.  I'll recommend the article linked above for some great ideas on this.  My own approach is to wear flannel pajama pants under oversized pants as a good compromise over the more field effective wool and breathable water repellent shells.  It all depends on your daily risk and for someone not going to the field but just dealing with cold and not wet conditions it is easier to wear clothes more suitable for civilian encounters.  As for a top, I'd wear a wicking material such as poly and layer flannel above that and then a waterproof shell jacket of some kind, usually dark color though not camouflage style that screams military.

Good article.  I prefer nine as well and have since the 1980's when Glock came out with the Model 17.  High capacity, lower recoil, lower training costs due to cheaper ammo price, and .22 conversion kits available for the Glock and some other brands such as the CZ75B make it a very cost efficient training tool.  Discernible differences in stopping power claimed against the 9mm are negated by the faster follow up shots that come with a 9mm.  Many police agencies are going back to 9mm for the reasons of cost and officers having trouble with the greater recoiling weapons.  I don't like the bite of a .40 and as I age it only gets more pronounced, so I've sworn it off completely and the same with .45 except in revolvers for sport shooting or black powder guns.  Other than that, the .45 is too expensive, too heavy, and too big.  Any gained stopping power is lost in lack of capacity.

Just for the record, the attacks are a result of open borders and unrestrained immigration.  It seems that the governments of Europe are more concerned about the safety of refugees and foreign invaders than they are of their own citizens.  On that basis the USA will probably get a dose of reality from our own unprotected borders like we did before on 9/11/2001.

What can you do to protect yourself.  Mostly, just stay out of crowded public events and live where you can stay armed to at least fight back if the shooting starts.

EMP Proof Your Personal Electronics and Data

This idea sounds great but the cost of course is always the rub.

In place of that here are a few other ideas you might consider, not proven, but plausible and likely workable to some extent.  Just use your common sense and some testing to see if it works.

First off is the old Microwave method.  I'd cut the cord on it, unplug it first please - Duh

Even without that you may get some level of RF energy protection just by putting whatever electronics you have inside it.  If the microwave is designed to stop HF Radio Energy from leaking out then it makes sense that it should stop it from coming in as well.  Since the size is so mall I'd save it for USB memory sticks and back-up drives, maybe some cell phones out of use, and a portable laptop not in use either.  

Aluminum Foil Closet
I wouldn't go through the effort to foil wrap a whole room but a cabinet or a closet foil wrapped from the inside with foil tape connecting it may give you some element of protection from RF energy.  Those foil bags used to ship memory chips or toll devices have the common word foil as in aluminum.  If you can't get a signal in or out then some at least minimal level of protection exists.

Ammo Cans
All steel surplus ammo cans also serve as a fallback hasty EMP protection.  How about just burying it in the dirt, but separate it from the ground by wrapping it in plastic or putting it in a sealed plastic cooler, sealed with silicone caulk.    Put plastic trash bags around the can and you might add another layer of element protection by limiting water exposure and galvanic action on the steel cans. It will take years for the elements to penetrate.  Based on tests a new painted can could last over a decade without penetration by rust even when sitting directly in the dirt.  Put any items inside the can in waterproof Mylar bags  for double protection and and you have a reasonable expectation of EMP protection along with physical security from theft or seizure.

Hard Copies
If it is a photographic image you want to save there is always an option to print a paper copy and store it in a fire resistant safe.  One of those document boxes might make sense.  EMP won't then be a worry, but instead heat and theft, or worse yet, water.  Water destroys more paper, wood, and metal products than probably anything else.  Keep it dry.

Redundancy
This is your final protection.  Have multiple copies or devices in various locations with as much protection afforded those as you can arrange.  An off site  storage in the cloud may even survive if the service has taken the proper steps.  All of these efforts are suggested to improve your outcome, save your data, and have electronic devices survive an EMP attack.

Eating to live and to survive healthy - post collapse - Junk Food for Survival

I found this article describing the 80/20 rule applied to diet and it makes perfect sense.  Vary your intake in terms of type of food to avoid boredom but also to fill in nutritional needs.  Allow yourself some less than perfect food to enjoy eating and overall it will keep your metabolism in balance. 

Putting away food for the future might also be done in this fashion by adding some comfort foods, and easy to prepare cheap foods that have borderline questionable health value.  Give yourself a break and add some chocolate, cake mixes, pop tarts, and whatever else you like to your storage efforts.  I think some twinkies might even be a good idea.  I myself prefer creme filled oatmeal cookies and fig bars.  Store it all and enjoy.  The nice thing is that you can tap these stores and update them as part of your regular diet.  Sure, have all those freeze dried food supply buckets but have that as your last line of defense rather than your only one.  Those are much more expensive and full of sodium while not really pleasing the palate like a good serving of mac and cheese might do.  Put away all of these and feel comfortable in knowing you can always get a chocolate rush even when all is lost.  That's my plan.

The iconic character Tod Stiles played by Martin Milner was my favorite.  He passed away on September 6, 2015 at age 83.  I remember him in Adam 12 as well, but his part in Rt. 66 is an iconic marker of an America long since gone.

One thing to do for now is to stay out of cities if you can and avoid areas where there are large numbers of illegals.  Another thing is to find a place to live that supports your values and usually this means staying away from criminals and illegals are criminals by definition no matter how much you feel they are just here for work and to make a better life.  If you and I committed the same level of crime that includes fake ID, social security numbers, not paying taxes on income, and stealing free benefits we would face many years of jail time.  Instead, these precious souls are given a helping hand while Americans with problems are shown disregard.

Gang crime is not limited to illegals and now with the new disregard for the rule of law shown by attacks on police you can expect less protection than before.

Get Trained:  Take training in firearms and especially handguns and get certification so that you can qualify to conceal carry a firearm on your person and in your vehicle.  Though it may not save you it will give you the tools to improve your odds while facing a much more dangerous society.

Keep Training:  Handgun skills have a shelf life that is counted in weeks and months not years.  So if you do decide to get a concealed carry permit then continue to train so that you will be skilled and ready.

Finally, don't live in a state that spends inordinate resources helping these criminals since it will be added to your tax bill to help them.  Not only will you be funding their support in jails when caught, but you'll be paying for their kids.  Also, live in a state that allows you to conceal carry to protect yourself from this foreign enemy that plays by a whole different set of moral rules.

9/11 Remembered and Revisited

Today is a reminder of the sad day back in 9/11 2001.

9/11 2001 occurred because they were here, you know, the terrorists.  They were here because we no longer have an immigration system but instead just have open borders where anyone can lie, cheat, or sneak their way in and once here they can just disappear among the huge foreign born population dumped in this country to reduce wages and increase Pro Big Government voting participation since most of these people will be getting government benefits.

Yesterday the U.S. Government repeated many of the same mistakes that caused the horrific loss of American life back in 9/11, 2001.  A treaty will allow Iran to build ICBM delivery systems and nuclear weapons despite what all the liars and fools in D.C. say.  Expect the death toll from this stupidity to be in the hundreds of thousands or millions rather than the thousands we lost in 2001.  The lemming left that agreed to this insanity will somehow blame any future disaster directly caused by this on someone else, and the media will cooperate.

Add the plan to bring in many tens of thousands, read hundreds of thousands, of Middle East refugees.  Not only will they not assimilate but you can expect that a percentage will become legally admitted terrorists right here in the ole USA.  When it happens more government moves against the American population will be justified to reduce the risk of terror attacks.  Talk about the need to watch right wing groups and pro liberty Americans will be discussed with pursed lips and serious faces, and of course the need for more gun control and domestic spying.

Europe will be seeing blood in the streets as well from this recklessness.  Likely this will end in tears for many more Americans thanks to a Pro Enemy Administration and a very, very weak Republican leadership that gives the administration any thing it wants.  Between malice on one side and cowardice on another Americans should be ready for anything in the realm of Jihad on our streets.  Sadly most will be surprised.  Today the news came out that a percentage of college kids don't even know what happened on 9/11.  Unbelievable.

What is there to say but,  protect yourself.

Analyze what is happening across the globe.  As economies are collapsing, markets are gyrating, debt is ballooning, and payments slow there may be one way to protect yourself or your country from some of the ruinous effects of a global route.  That way is to shut the hatches in your part of the sinking global ship.  Whether it works or not it can work to the extent that if your country or group of countries forming a trading bloc can in essence create a means of trade close to barter by simply agreeing to a set value of goods in relation to a common currency.  As long as that currency is limited to the trading bloc it can limit the damage caused by fluctuations in the global sphere.

It probably makes sense for Putin to do this simply because there won't be a way to judge a Russian collapse is the measures of trade such as dollars and the euro are no longer allowed.  Admittedly, this kind of stupidity didn't work for Argentina but they are a much less resilient region and they were mostly depending on oil revenue to prop up a socialist operation.

What does this mean to us.  Nothing at the moment but look at it as a sign that eventually international trade may grind to a halt leaving many countries in desperate situations.  The contagion is spreading and with it will come the unraveling of the debt bubbles and the false values that were propped up by debt.  Local economies will suffer disruptions and if the local currency becomes worthless hyperinflation will reduce the population to dumpster diving and looting.  Again, picture Argentina and Venezuela.

This one I am exact on since I have the receipts.  In 2010 I bought this bread mix from Amazon for $11.30 each  pack of 6, delivered.  In 2014 I paid $13.84 for the same product. The current price is $20.22 for the same amount.

As you can see, the price at Walmart is the same as Amazon for the moment at $20.22 per pack of 6 boxes.

My point here is that your cost of buying an essential like bread has gone up drastically.
20.22 - 11.30 = 8.92 / 20.22 = .44 x 100 = 44%

This has happened over the course of five years but this should show you that whatever we are being told about inflation and the cost of living commonly called the CPI or consumer price index is a pack lies.

Even as late as 2014 you got the same bread for only $13.84

20.22 - 13.84 = 6.38 / 20.22 = .315 x 100 = 32%

So in the last year we had a 32% increase on a staple such as bread mix.  Admittedly this is a limited sampling but I can tell you that the price of powdered milk has about doubled at Sammy's Club along with the price of Tuna in cans.

Things are moving up rapidly and one thing that isn't going up is wages especially since we are being flooded with illegals willing to work for lower wages, thus suppressing wage increases.

It looks like food is still a great investment based simply on the fast rise in prices on many of the basic food supplies that someone may normally want to have a good stock of for long term storage and rotation.

Another aspect of Bio War is the importation of illegal aliens who are untested for disease to come and live in the country and infect citizens.  This is already in progress as many new infectious diseases have gained a foothold in the USA.  Infectious diseases spread in the Southern US.

To those who think ticks are just a nuisance think again.  They now carry a multitude of diseases that are not only infectious but can disabling and deadly.  Precautions are worth taking but the truth is that even with precautions about the only way to avoid them completely is live in the city and don't own pets that travel outside, or maybe live in the desert.  Beyond that, if you are bitten and get any symptoms do not hesitate to go to the doctor and find one that will take you seriously.  Many doctors are house cats that know nothing of the outdoors and therefore have no understanding of this risk and based on experience know very little about these tick borne diseases.

Immigration

Germany faces its own flood of humanity.
Europe will pay for the attitude it used to display toward anti-immigrant policies of other countries as it now must suffer the cost, dislocation, and eventual disintegration caused by uncontrolled immigration.  Expect much strife just as France has seen.

Illegal immigration surges again into the US with no border security.
The plan is in full swing as new voters arrive with increasing intensity.  The cost will be borne by the citizens who must accept a lower standard of living to pay for the new special interest groups meant to be voting in coming elections.

The Collapse of the Entitlement System led by Social Security

At the top of Drudge Report you'll see in Red the words Social Security and the word Cuts.  Such is the nightmare facing a huge number of retirees or those getting closer to it that have little in savings and therefore will depend primarily on Social Security.

When Drudge puts something at the top in red he means this is shocking, serious, and of great importance.  I agree.

The one really noticeable element of the article as it describes the problems facing the system is the lack of mention for the drain new immigrants put on the system in the form of SSI for low income individuals who may have never worked and paid into social security.  We probably have millions in this category but the facts on the matter are hard to come by.  What I do remember is the specific story of a lady from Iran who received more in SSI than someone who had worked and paid into social security for the whole lives.  This was done after her son passed her through the sponsorship window and then she was eligible for SSI  and began collecting the Golden plan for world retirement and all you have to do is make it here and become eligible.

Also not counted is the disability payments as well which are rife with corruption and fraud.

What do do.

Do what any rational person would do and make sure you have some resources set aside if the So So Security system does cut your payouts.

Quick Survival Food Planning - Sardines

Okay,  so you're getting a bit worried about the financial doom situation along with all the other predicted disasters coming our way.  Here is a simple and easy thing to do to increase your feeling of safety and security.  Buy canned food.  Buy good canned food that has lots of calories and is very nutritious.  Buy it in quantity.

Here is a suggestion.  Start with sardines.

I have my favorite brand and it is a store brand at Trader Joe's.  I prefer the olive oil version and especially the smoked type.  If you check the good through dates you'll see that you get at least two or three years of recommended eating.  Of course I usually go past those dates by up to two years and notice no problems.  The one problem with canned foods is to make sure that you keep these in temperature controlled areas to avoid freezing or cooking the food in the can.

My suggestion is to do some alternate reading on sardines and how to eat them.

One thing I learned from this article was from a link on the page to a NYT article about the closing of the last sardine canning facility in the USA.  Not only is this sad but it also indicates that one more element of continental self sufficiency is getting tossed aside due to federal regulations.

Do your own research as well, but my advice is to bulk up on canned sardines as one of the staples in your food storage program.  You can eat them periodically to rotate your storage and also to make sure that you can count on this source of food to comfortably expand your storage and diversify your food options.

With all the other stories in the news it seems people have forgotten that the Ebola Czar has effectively shut down all information regarding Ebola in the USA.  You can bet it is still here.  A man on the front lines of battling Ebola makes the prediction that it will return.

Bird Flu (Avian Flu)  runs rampant across the USA requiring the killing of millions of birds.  The price of chicken and turkey will go up.  Scientists are worried about the human transmission risk.
