The lesson here is one of amazement that the owner of the winery had no security.  They didn't live there and made no provisions for having anyone else there to protect their property.  It's still a sad commentary on the state of things in the USA but truthfully these kind of things have always happened when people see an easy way to take what isn't theirs.  My suggestion to anyone with a similar business to either live at the property or have someone else live there.  If there is a shed, or structure there someone could have stayed there.  Another thing is that security cameras should have been up to at least  have a record of the theft.  Even without electric there if they didn't have it they could have set up some game cameras or a solar powered video recorder.  I think they have learned.
