This is reason alone to kill all flies in your home and take extreme efforts to avoid letting them land on your food.  A positive note is that rural flies carry fewer deadly organisms often found in urban environments.  A fly bit can also be lethal or dangerous so cover wounds and don't let flies sit on you.  This is another good reason to wear a hat, long sleeve shirts, pants, socks, and shoes.  Then all you have to worry about is your face and neck.  An alternate approach is just to wear bug tamers when sitting outside.

Fly paper - not very nice to look at but a nice reminder of the old days

Electronic tennis rackets for zapping them - the best time to use these is when a fly is on a window and seems blinded to what is behind them.  Just move the racket up slowly behind them and hope they hit grid.  They often do.

Fly swatter - this is of course the most reliable way to take them out.  Use extreme prejudice.

Insecticide strips - I never liked these because if you they can kill bugs they can damage you.
