Survival Skills: DIY list, Camo, Roaming

DIY - Can you change a lightbulb?  1 in 5 can't or fear it.

One benefit of owning a basic home or and old mobile home is that you don't have to worry about making a mistake.  For instance, plumbing in a trailer is fairly simple and since it sits off the ground without a basement any flooding can be limited in damage if you do your part.  The same exists in a home with a well where you can turn off the pump or if you have multiple shutoff valves.  Frozen pipes under a trailer can be reached easily.  A broken one can be found easily.  In a multilevel single family home if you have a broken pipe it is a disaster.

Camo Pullover jacket.   Learn camouflage limits by testing it yourself in your local area.  Have seasonal changes available.

Roaming - This is about nostalgia for a lost time as much as it is a call to allow kids to take risks.  Growing up in the 60's there were few controls unless your parents were anal.  Many of us did what we wanted during those years and the main rule was not to hurt others and damage the property of others.  Other than that, almost any crazed activity was worth trying that included camping without supervision in any woods you could get to.  Swimming in rivers where you couldn't see the bottom and knew there were snakes in it.  Any physical stunt was okay as long as you didn't break your neck.  Few did.
