EMP Risk - North Korea

EMP Risk

The fact that our grid is still vulnerable more than a decade after this threat has been identified, and actually more than multiple decades tells you the incompetence of our leadership.  They don't give a rat's s_it about you or me.  YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.

While the dear leader was pushing through a hundred billion dollar gift to Iran he found no time for effort on EMP defense improvements to protect the country.

While his predecessor GWB was busy doing war upon war he seemed to forget the homeland on this major issue.  Again his focus was on everything but us other than to tighten the screws on the population with the patriot act.  Meanwhile the borders stayed wide open.

Before him was slick and slick only cared about girls and money.  No effort on EMP defense or hardening.

Before him was GHWB who also sat on his hands when it came to EMP.

Before him was Reagan and while going for missile defense and military buildup most likely nothing was done.

We can go further back but why bother.

North Korea is the current big threat for EMP
The NORKS see the vulnerability and may have already planned to exploit it.  A sub launched missile with a small warhead launched 70 miles up and detonated in an airburst over each coast would probably do the job quite well.  Tens of millions dead and meanwhile congress is padding their pockets and giving away our money around the world.

Save Yourself:  You cannot under any circumstances expect the maggots of Mordor (DC), to get this done anytime soon and the risk is now.

What to do:  Set up for a one year grid down event

Water: Start saving your water bottles and fill them up out of the tap.  Buy gallon bottles of water with the more durable plastic type with resealable lids.  Use the water if you want but be sure to partially refill them and also put them in outside storage.  Save more water than you imagine you'll need a a month or three.

Shelter: a stand alone home is best simply to limit risk to fires as inhabitants of multi unit structures do whatever they have to in order to keep warm and cook food.  Fire will be the enemy along with sanitation.

Food: You can never have enough but at least set aside a three month supply to give you some breathing space during the crash of an EMP event.

Energy:  Batteries and basic flashlights,  Oil lamps and lamp oil, propane stove and propane,  woodstoves and wood, oh and if you plan to use any electronics it should be sealed in a Faraday level EMP shielded container.   I'd set aside some LED lighting in EMP proof storage since even those have plenty of electronic circuits and the same with small solar chargers.

Ammo: no worries here.  Ammo is EMP proof as far as we know.  Load up.
