What Can You Do to protect yourself:

Services: Learn to go without if you can but also learn to use what is rightfully available to you since it seems anyone that shows up in the country illegally gets more than most Americans.
Wages and Income: Have your own business if you can or at least a sideline that can't be easily taken from you. Set aside 6 months worth of ready cash for survival. While you're at it set aside 6 months worth of food too so that will extend your cash.
